Women Mean Business
Lancashire's Leading Ladies are set to gather once again for one of the region's premier female-led business events. Available for members and non members.
Following the success of the September Women Mean Business Event, in association with partners, Code Galaxy, the Chamber is pleased to launch details of the first 2025 event.
Once again, our leading line up of high-profile speakers will share with guests, their business learnings, life experience, and advice, over a two-course lunch at the picturesque Stanley House Hotel and Spa.
Speakers
Figen Murray OBE, Campaigner and Educator
For over 23 years, Figen worked as a counsellor, a life coach and offered clinical supervision to other counsellors too. She has always had a passion for listening to other people and helping them get back on track to lead happier, healthier lives.
On the 22nd May 2017, Figen's life as she knew it changed forever. Her son, Martyn Hett, was one of the 22 people killed in the devastating Manchester Arena terrorist attack. Figen has made it her mission to promote peace and positive change in Martyn's honour.
She is the force behind Martyn's Law, legislation which will require venues with a capacity of 100+ to improve security against the threat of terrorism, train their staff with free online training provided by the government, and one that requires all venues have a counter-terrorism plan in place. This began in 2019, in Figen's kitchen, as an online petition which received over 23,000 signatures. Since then, Figen has been working with a team of co-campaigners and meeting government officials and ministers regularly to formulate how her vision would be put into practice and implemented as law.
Her proudest achievement, so far, is being awarded an OBE in the 2022 New Year's Honours List. Whilst none of the work she does is done with the intent of self-gain, receiving her OBE made Figen aware that the work she does is being both noticed and valued, which is humbling and gives her the motivation to continue.
The Prime Minister has promised Figen that Martyn's Law will receive Royal Ascent, and become law, by Martyn's next Birthday in 2025.
Camilla Hadcock
Chairman, Made in Britain & Owner/Director, Roach Bridge Tissues
As Chairman of the Board of Directors of Made in Britain, Camilla plays a leading role in representing Made in Britain's entire membership, as well as the wider UK manufacturing sector, with government and at senior strategic leadership level.
A key focus is publicising the high-quality research, development and production skills of Made in Britain members to encourage trade in local, British-made goods. Camilla has also contributed to strengthening links with the Ministry of Defence (MOD), so that members have access to this major buyer of British goods. For 25 years, Camilla has been director of Roach Bridge Tissues, a specialist printer of wrapping tissue paper based in Lancashire.
As usual, our speakers, and your fellow event attendees, will inspire you, encourage you to collaborate, and champion women in business.
Please note: There may be photographs taken at our events that will be used for marketing purposes and on our social media channels. If you do not wish to appear in any of our marketing materials or on our social media channels, please inform a member of the Chamber team at the start of the event.
