Boost - Lancashire's Business Growth Hub

Boost can help Preston start-up businesses access a number of funded programmes by Preston City Council's UK Shared Prosperity Funding. If you're looking to start, grow or scale your business, talk to the Boost team of business advisers. The support includes a Business Support Helpdesk, which offers advice and guidance to anyone thinking of starting a business in Preston, as well as businesses already trading.

Flying Start Programme - available in Preston through Boost, the Flying Start programme is created for pre-start businesses and those that have traded for less than three years and is delivered by an experienced team of qualified startup business advisers. Our advisers can help you navigate the ups and downs of starting a new business, through support, mentoring and activities, tailored to suit your business needs.

Hyndburn Enterprise Trust a not for profit organisation offers one-to-one impartial business advice at affordable prices to anyone thinking of starting a business in Lancashire, plus a range of workshops on a variety of business topics.

Ask About Business

Ask About Business is an information service available through libraries in Lancashire, which help start ups prepare, research and learn through their information resources, events, workshops, library space, and partnerships with other business support organisations.

You can also access business advice and information through COBRA - a complete business reference advisor containing all the information you need to turn your ideas into a business.

Preston Cooperative Development Network  is Preston's fantastic resource for starting and supporting co-ops.  If you want to start a business or bring together a community to meet their needs, and you want to do it in a fair and democratic way, get expert help and advice from the PCDN. The free advice and training is made possible by UK Shared Prosperity Funding provided through Preston City Council to support growing the local social economy.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) new interactive online tool

New support for Small Business from HMRC - GOV.UK - Running a small business, working for yourself, or considering self-employment? HMRC's free online guidance and interactive tools provides clearer information for people working for themselves and individuals considering self-employment.

Aimed at supporting new and existing 'sole traders' to better understand their responsibilities, the new interactive tool explains the records they may need to keep, taxes that may apply to their business, and includes other useful information, for example how to pay a tax bill.
