A Radical North - The People-Powered Future Starts Here
The city of Preston is set to become the epicentre of progressive thought and action as it hosts the 2023 This Is The North Convention. This exciting two-day event will take place on 29 and 30 November across multiple venues, and promises to bring together thought leaders, activists, and change-makers from across the North to discuss, learn, and embolden the power of citizens at a local and regional level.
This Is the North Convention is a platform for individuals and organizations committed to creating positive change in our society. Whether you're passionate about social justice, environmental sustainability, economic reform, or want to explore people-powered solutions to 21st century challenges, this convention is your opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and gain the knowledge and inspiration needed to drive meaningful change.
People's Powerhouse Chair Edna Robinson said: "We're incredibly excited to bring the This Is the North Convention to Preston this November:
"The people of the North will gather to raise their collective voice across this brilliant city to demand a North that is fit for our future.
"Our movement has been building since last year's Convention in Manchester, and we've seen the need for people-powered solutions during the difficult times we've faced across our regions.
"The Convention will be a vibrant day and a half of interactive workshops and activities on everything from community wealth building to racial justice.
"We can't wait to see you!"
Councillor Matthew Brown, Leader of Preston City Council said:
"We are delighted to be chosen to host this year's People's Powerhouse Annual Convention - This is the North 2023. Preston is an amazing city that is experiencing significant growth and change, with some unique and culturally distinctive locations and independently-owned venues.
"It is fitting that our city, often described as 'alternative' in our approaches, will provide the backdrop to this exciting convention that seeks to discuss how people can be at the heart of decision making and economic development. We look forward to hearing who will participate in the event.
